Terry Duguid MP is a Canadian politician who became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Winnipeg South in 2015. He has experience in different levels of elected roles, including city councillor in Winnipeg from 1989 to 1995.

Duguid, born in 1954 or 1955, is the son of professional curling athlete Don Duguid. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science. In Winnipeg, he has been involved in eco-business activities, like being president of Sustainable Development International and chairing the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission.

He was also the head of the Gateway North Marketing Agency, responsible for preserving the Port of Churchill and Hudson Bay Rail Line. He founded the International Centre for Infectious Diseases to support Canada’s health agency after the SARS outbreak.

Before entering politics, Duguid was an environmental activist and led the Manitoba Liberal Party in the 1980s. He served as a Winnipeg City Councillor from 1989 to 1995, contributing to the creation of the blue box recycling program. Afterward, he excelled in the nonprofit sector, leading initiatives to safeguard the Port of Churchill rail line and chairing conservation-focused organizations.

In federal elections, Duguid contested for seats as a Liberal candidate. He lost in 2004 and 2006 but secured a parliamentary role in 2015. He became Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development. He later took on roles related to women’s status and environmental issues, including Lake Winnipeg’s cleanup efforts.
