Jessica Diane Aber, born in 1981, is an American lawyer currently serving as the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Aber graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Richmond in 2003. She later earned her Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School in 2006.

Aber’s legal journey began as a law clerk for then-Magistrate Judge M. Hannah Lauck of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2006 to 2007. Following that, she worked as an associate at McGuireWoods from 2007 to 2008.

From 2009 to 2021, she served as an assistant United States attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. During 2015 to 2016, she worked as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice. Since 2016, she has held the position of deputy chief of the criminal division in the office.

In March 2021, Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner recommended Aber for the role, leading to her nomination by President Joe Biden on August 10, 2021.

The United States Senate confirmed her nomination on October 5, 2021, and she assumed her position as United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia on October 12, 2021, after being sworn in by Chief Judge Mark Steven Davis and Judge M. Hannah Lauck.
