Benjamin Alan Carroll, born on July 12, 1975, is an Australian politician representing the Niddrie area in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He’s also the Minister for Public Transport in Victoria’s state government, a role he began in June 2020. He’s had other important jobs in government since 2017.

Ben grew up in Airport West, Victoria. He went to St Christopher’s Primary School and later attended St Bernard’s College for high school. He studied law at La Trobe University, finishing with honors in 2000. In 2010, he became a legal solicitor. He pursued a master’s in law from La Trobe, starting after he got elected in 2012.

Before his political career, Ben worked at Kmart in Airport West and at the insurance company AAMI in their motor vehicles division. He also worked at the Victorian Government Solicitor from 2009 to 2010.

Ben Carroll worked as a political adviser for several notable people, including Steve Bracks, Justin Madden, and Stephen Conroy.

In 2012, he won the Niddrie seat after a by-election when Rob Hulls resigned. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018. In 2014, he became the Parliamentary Secretary for Justice in the new Andrews Labor Government. Then, in 2017, he took on the role of Minister for Industry and Employment after Wade Noonan stepped down from the cabinet.
