Benjamin Alan Carroll, an Australian politician, serves as the representative for Niddrie in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He’s also the Minister for Public Transport in the Victorian state government. He took up this role in June 2020 and has held other ministerial positions since 2017.

Ben was born on July 12, 1975, in Airport West, Victoria. He went to St Christopher’s Primary for primary school and attended St Bernard’s College for high school. Ben studied law at La Trobe University and graduated with honors in 2000. He became a legal solicitor in 2010. He also holds a master’s degree in law from La Trobe University, which he pursued after his 2012 election.

Before entering politics, Ben worked at Kmart and AAMI, an insurance company. He also worked for the Victorian Government Solicitor from 2009 to 2010.

Ben Carroll served as a political adviser to Steve Bracks, Justin Madden, and Stephen Conroy. In 2012, he won the Niddrie seat in a by-election after Rob Hulls’ resignation and was re-elected in 2014 and 2018.

In 2014, Carroll became the Parliamentary Secretary for Justice under the Andrews Labor Government. In 2017, he became the Minister for Industry and Employment after Wade Noonan’s resignation from the cabinet.
